What can Google Video Learn from Netflix?
By Igor Mordkovich on Aug 8, 2006 in Google, Marketing Strategy, General, Online Marketing
I just watched an interesting video on Google by Seth Godin on the subject of marketing. I liked it as thus I just gave it 5 stars. By doing so, Google now sees my preference and what I enjoy watching (the more I rate the more accurate they can be) … so why not give me a “Suggested Video” list? Netflix does it beautifully.
How about e-mailing me every time there is a new video uploaded to Google video about MARKETING? Or by the author Seth Godin? Google can you hear me? I am OK with you contacting me about this. You have my “permission”.
I’ve used Google video for few days and maybe there is something out there such as “suggested video” and I just didn’t see it. But if I didn’t see it, is it easy to find?
Few big reason why Netflix is so successful in the video rental industry 1) They were the first ones and 2) They let you personalize your list and they give you suggestions based on your rating.
Don’t we love when something is not generic but rather personalized just for us? Why do so many people love to have their initials embroidered on their dress shirts or towels?
Google Video team …. if what I am talking about is not there yet … take notice.
