Is This a Way To Teach Your Kids About Making Money? … Shame on You!

As I am getting off a highway on Exit 5, I see about 5-7 young kids (age 10-15) dressed in a baseball uniform, holding a cup in their hand and approaching cars that stop for a red light. Am I the only one who sees a problem in this picture?
The worst thing is … I saw them coming back to their parents who sit about 150 feet way from the road in a nice cool area under the trees. Good going fellas. You’re teaching your kids to beg for money. Shame on YOU!
Is it a coincidence that just a week ago 2 homeless men stood on that same spot. I wonder why they are homeless?
Look. I am all for kids trying to make money especially if it’s for a good cause. (Charity, baseball team, school…) but do not beg for money. Why should someone give you money for nothing in return? Any fool can hold a cup and walk at the same time.
Instead of begging how about buying some bottled watter at a supermarket for 0.30 cents and selling it to people on the street for $2.00 ? Believe me people will buy. It’s summer and you’re right there with a bottle of water. Plus it’s for the kids baseball team. Does this take too much of a brain to figure out?
I never give money to these kids not because I am an ass (sometimes I can be). It’s just that I strongly believe in the value of making money with your head. Which means not begging but rather exchanging services / product for money.
Every time I write on a topic that has many opinions I get e-mails with good comments and surely negative ones. I welcome your 2 cents.
