For SEO Greatness Treat Your Website Like a Museum

So what the heck does a Museum has to do with SEO (search engine optimization) of your company website? Everything!

Here is what I mean.

If you’ve ever been to a museum you would notice that each section of the place is separated by a theme, time frame or any other differentiating factor. You have your 18th century art, 19th century art, etc. (By this example you’ll notice that it’s been some time since I’ve been to a museum). Anyway let’s go on.

Imagine if every museum simply stuffed all the exhibits into the rooms without taking the “theme factor” into consideration? What? Did you say …. “Usability Disaster” ?

Do you see the connection here?

Google wants to point its users to sites that are relevant and easy to follow. Hence Google is providing its “searchaholics” with quality content.

I still see these websites that even though each page can be a different theme (within the industry/product), they simply stuff the same keywords or variation of them into titles and body of the page. Oh and how about plurals for a change?

Look … if a page is talking about pricing, focus on pricing with your industry keyword. If you talk about additional devices, focus on those keywords. Don’t just use those pages to target plural variation of a keyword your customer might use.

Look at your website right now. If you would have to create a “Site Map” using only the title of your pages, would it make sense?
